Certificate in Cosmetology (1 year full time)


The FET Certificate: Cosmetology (SAQA ID:  67217) enables all students to acquire the necessary fundamental skills in the Beauty Industry.

This qualification can be considered a platform for articulation of further qualifications, such as a diploma in health and skincare. After completion, the therapist can work in conjunction with the fashion, media and hairdressing industries.

Professionals in fashion, media and hairdressing can also use the cosmetology certificate as an additive to the services they currently provide.

This qualification is accessible to the student without university exemption and that has time constraints as it can be completed in a year.

Career possibilities: Cosmetic consultant, assistant in beauty salons, cosmetic counter assistant, assistant in hair salons, chain stores, nail technician, provide services at airlines by pampering passengers, provide services at sports clubs or leisure centres, specialize in a particular field eg make-up or nail artistry, move into other related areas such as marketing, sales and retailing.

  • An optional international exam, City & Guilds, can be undertaken with completion of studies to increase the student's employment opportunities.

Experiential hours must be completed timeously and approved before certification can take place.
